Welcome to the Diageo Bar Academy, a cutting-edge training platform for bartenders bar owners and managers.
DBA has the mission to foster a global community dedicated to raising industry standards. Training more than 100,000 bar owners, managers, bartenders and waiters face-to-face (F2F) annually across 62 countries.
The platform had evolved in silos over time, shaped by shifting business goals and resulting in fragmented content, inconsistent user experiences, and inefficient brand management. Against this complex technical backdrop, DBA aimed to disrupt the hospitality education space and expand its already substantial global audience.

Approach
As part of a multi-disciplinary team spanning design, technology, content, and education worked in close collaboration with Diageo, adopting an agile approach rooted in rapid iteration, co-creation, and continuous user testing.
Design sprints and regular feedback loops helped us balance the needs of the business, the brands, and the global bar community.
The insights gathered throughout this process informed a new set of Learning Experience Design Principles—anchoring the platform in user value while meeting operational demands.

Outcomes & Deliverables
For the business we built a scalable technical platform giving a single customer view and a way to manage the needs of the brands.
For the users we reimagined and repurposed the existing content allowing it to be remixed into hundreds of educational modules creating a highly personalised and best-in-class learning experience.
